Alteration ideas - how to transform a top into a dress

I found a baby yellow linen top at the thrift store for 50% off, which had very nice buttons.
I could not resist not to buy it. The buttons and lace pieces had been stored for another project, but linen material was a perfect option to pair with the floral cotton for my daughter's dress.

Jean Jacket_Alteration ideas

I have found a cute jean jacket for my daughter at the thrift store for $6.
I liked the dark wash, but the sleeves were way too long and had holes at elbows.
I decided to cut the sleeve and move the cuffs up to keep the original jacket look.
In one hour the jacket was transformed and looked like new.

Re-purposing thrift store clothes.

If your child is an odd size like my daughter, who is a size 6 in waist and a size 8 in length, you probably have a hard time finding clothes that fit right, but I found a solution. I make my daughter custom khaki pants for her school uniform. I buy khaki pants in thrift stores for $1.50-$3.00 and repurpose them into perfectly fit uniform pants.

Transformation of Traditional Indian clothes

I could not pass by the traditional Indian two-piece set at the thrift store, something about it made me love it.The half off price helped me to make a decision faster and I purchased it.
Even though it was designed and sewn for 8-10 years girl, I had enough materials to alter it for my size:
Sleeves became the side panels;
The silk bottom was cut into facings to finish armholes and hem;
The scratched beads were replaced with new beads.
Besides the garment was fully lined!
I love challenging projects and I will definitely enjoy wearing my new creation.
